Gans Lecture: Jens Voigt

We are pleased to bring you cycling superstar Jens Voigt to deliver the Gans Lecture at the 50th Anniversary PAPS meeting. Jens is a German former professional road bicycle racer for several teams, the last one being UCI ProTeam Trek Factory Racing. Jens wore the yellow jersey of the Tour de France twice and won two Tour de France stages. His career achievements include winning the Critérium International a record-tying 5 times and a number of one-week stage races, as well as two Tour de France stage victories. In September 2014, he set a new hour world record on the bike by distance vs. time at an average speed over 51 km/hr. Jens is a very popular with cycling fans, both for his aggressive riding style and his affable, forthright and articulate manners in dealing with the public and media. He speaks fluent French and English, in addition to his native German. He is one of the funniest personalities in modern sports and is well known around the world. He will be telling us what its like to be a pro cyclist and train for the Tour de France, the most grueling event in sports history.
